The HR department of the municipality of Zwolle moves with the times and dares to take bold decisions. The new way of working is becoming increasingly integrated into the everyday routine. To help stimulate the department in this aspect, the municipality has assigned a number of square metres to be used as a discussion area fuelled by inspirational ideas – and our task was to design this inspiring space. To meet their needs, we have ensured that the inspiration lies literally at their feet. All members of the department made their own contribution to this ‘inspiration floor’ through submitting images they personally find inspiring. This way, colleagues are unconsciously inspiring each other. In addition to being a source of inspiration, the space is also intended as an area where people can connect with each other, drink coffee together and hold brainstorm sessions. The circle in the heart of the floor links these functions with each other and can be seen as representing the ‘HR’ department. You could say that they function as the heart of the municipality!
